Kirchdofer conquers Kilimanjaro

Towering 5,895 meters above the savannahs of Africa the Kilimanjaro is one of the “seven summits“, the highest mountains of each of the seven continents. At the beginning of the year Mag. Erich Frommwald set himself the target to climb this huge mountain massif.

Climbing this mountain from the tropics to the glacier, one passes six types of vegetation depending on the height. The richness of species in the area of the rainforest is an extreme contrast to the barren landscape in the stone desert of the highlands. “Focusing on the essential, the unspoiled nature and the physical strain during the climb sharpen your awareness of the really important things. I look forward to starting the new year with the my newly gained strength,” the group chairman describes his adventure.

The highest point of the edge of the crater is called “Uhuru Peak”. “It was an extremely emotional moment to reach the peak, a breathtaking view that made you forget all the strains.” Erich Frommwald sums up his experience.
