Tubing production for the tunnel project „Tulfes Pfons“ will start in September.

The Tyrolian Katzenberger Fertigteilindustrie GmbH was officially awarded the contact for the construction section Tulfes Pfons. This section is part of the Brenner Basistunnel (BBT) that goes from Innsbruck to Franzensfeste (South Tyrol). With its 64 km it is the longest underground railway tunnel of the world. The construction started in July 2014 and according to current forecasts will be finished in March 2019. Until the year 2018 Katzenberger Fertigteilindustrie GmbH will deliver 9,000  tubing segments plus the according cover plates for this project.

“The order for the major tunnel project Tulfes Pfons is one of the biggest individual orders in the history of Katzenberger Fertigteilindustrie GmbH. The production of the 14 ton-tubing segments in our facility in Wiesing ensures our capacity output for the next 3 years.” the facility manager and authorized signatory Mag. Stefan Kizlink is very satisfied.

The working group Strabag and Salini-Impregilo is responsible for this 380 million Euro-project. The working group put their trust into an enterprise of the Kirchdorfer group, a proven partner that gained a good reputation in tubing production in many tunnel projects in Austria and abroad.
